Working with inexplicable, long-standing personal issues

This way of working with a life issue is very different from traditional psychological therapies. In this workshop we will work with inexplicable, seemingly intractable issues in your life, by holding you and your generational family in our view; your issue is also embedded in your family system.

Feelings that make no sense

Maybe you experience a deep sense of sadness that you cannot make sense of. Or maybe you carry around a deep anxiety or un-named fears that may not even feel as if they belong to you. Yet these unexplained emotions, sadnesses have real consequences for you in your everyday life. They may hold you back from moving further into your field of work, or impact how you connect with others in terms of ease and intimacy – maybe an inability even to experience love.

Overlapping systems and connections

In systemic constellation work you and your issue are seen and worked with within your generational family system. These generational connections and histories allow many more meanings to emerge and many more possibilities of understanding a time and generation that you did not live through personal experience. You are not only a part of your birth family, but also of a much wider system.

Past experience

Depending on the experiences of your ancestors, you as an individual in this present generation may still be impacted by events that happened in the lives of others several generations back, in your wider family system. We often do not know the history or the facts about what happened to our ancestors, or even to our mothers and fathers.

Sense of overwhelm

Sometimes experiences are so overwhelming that people cannot talk of them, so these happenings remain covered and hidden. However the effects of what happened are still in the family system – until the person or event is “seen”. And we as members of the system continue to be affected by these untold experiences and secrets.

We may not consciously know of the details, but the family system will be in a constant attempt to keep a balance for all. Someone in the present generation (maybe you) feels this more deeply than others in the family, not consciously but your life may be more impacted by the past; by people and events that you do not consciously know anything about. This is where Family Constellations, this other way of working, can help.
